Pro-Am @ Torreon Golf Club

The sixth Southwest PGA Pro-Am on the calendar returns to Torreon Golf Club in Show Low, AZ, July 23-24. Teams are scheduled to play in a 36-hole, one gross plus one net better-ball competition on both the Tower and Cabin Courses. Professionals are competing in an individual stroke-play event as well.

Executive Director Bernie Eaton will be having a "fireside chat" with Andy Staples and Tim Cloninger regarding conservation within a golf operation and how architecture (renovations and new designs) can help balance reductions in water and overseed practices.

Golf Operations Certification Seminar

Talking Stick Golf Club - Scottsdale, AZ

Attendees of this Golf Operations Specialization Seminar will fulfill the coursework requirement and receive PGA of America Golf Operations Certification by: Purchasing specialized course access after the seminar ($350); Fulfilling CAPSTONE requirements which include: Proposal Project ADM completion Mentoring/Advising PGA Professionals PGA Members attending the 2-day workshop will receive 16 PGA Education PDR credits. $35 to attend.

PDR Opportunity - PGA HOPE Instructor Training

Augusta Ranch Golf Club - Mesa, AZ
Tuesday, September 10th

This FREE one-day educational workshop for Southwest PGA Members and Associates will explore the skills of teaching adaptive golf to those who may have physical, cognitive or sensory challenges, discussing how golf is utilized as a vital element in their rehabilitation and recovery. PGA Professionals attending this workshop become eligible to coach clinics and programs being planned within Arizona and Nevada. 6 PGA Education PDR credits.

Who We Are

The PGA of America is the world's largest sports organization, comprised of 28,000 men and women golf Professionals who are the recognized experts in teaching and growing the game. Founded in 1916, the PGA of America has enhanced its leadership position by conducting premier spectator events – PGA Championship, Ryder Cup, Senior PGA Championship presented by KitchenAid and PGA Grand Slam of Golf – as well as significant philanthropic outreach initiatives, and award-winning golf promotions.

The Southwest PGA is one of forty-one sections of the Professional Golfers' Association of America. Its boundaries include the state of Arizona and Clark County in Southern Nevada. There are two chapters within the Southwest PGA - the Southern Chapter and Southern Nevada Chapter. Each chapter aims to further facilitate programs and support their members specific needs in those areas.

  • The Anser Award was created by the Southwest PGA and PING in 1991 as a way to recognize individuals who have made significant and impactful contributions to advancing or promoting the game of golf throughout the state of Arizona.
